Municipal Gym
Olgiate Comasco, (Como), Italy
2002
The new municipal gym will find the current location at Sports Centre. The building stands on the north-south of the football field and running track and, in view of the differences in height, is partially underground than the existing quota, thereby reducing its visual impact. The gym is equipped with a regulation field for the game of basketball and volleyball, with two side stands for about 770 seats.
The entrance of the public goes on a elongated square formed by a slight incline which connects the portion of the parking lots to the portion of the playing field. The building is architecturally characterized by great coverage tilted glass with photovoltaic and solar panels, made of laminated wooden beams connected by septa, which also act as shields for the control of light. The cantilevered roof covering the entrance to the south and north of the grandstands athletics track
