Residential tower building
Milan, Italy
2001- 2005
Realized
The building has been designed to overcome conceptually the lot size and to relate with large-scale elements, such as Tirana square, the Large Ship and rail.
The verticality becomes the expressive sign of the project and is expressed both by the proportions of the elements that define the main volumes, either through a cut in the facade that highlights plans facade arranged in depth.
A slit, 50 meters high and 2.5 wide, crosses throughout the building along the east-west, letting through the light and the sight, putting in visual continuity Tirana square and the public garden.
The building is covered with GRC slabs, colour dark gray as the railway line, and ends at the top with a glass volume, panoramic point of view on the city.
The lodges of the apartments constitute a full height excavation in the volume, while the windows on the façade are dimensioned and juxtaposed so as not to lose the integrity of the solid wall.
In the middle part of the building there is a conservatory: a space on two levels, shielded by a brise-soleil and equipped for different crops.
