Housing contest
Milan, Italy
2009
The project is based on morphological choices that intend to highlight the potential of this area, connection between the built city and the undeveloped green areas. The houses revolve around a core for social activities and are arranged in a diversified and non-repetitive way.
The main distribution core is open to the outside terraces and gardens, to ensure suitable environmental conditions for air quality and lighting, and operates as a bioclimatic greenhouse-atrium. The housing function is structured in six different volumes that represent the basic typological modules, grouped around a central courtyard, lifted off the ground and located in the focal point of the site.
The wavy course of pedestrian paths and local services draw the arrangement of the green areas and define the different functions, public or semi-public. An elevated residents garden identifies the green parterre in front of the farmstead and covers the local services and commercial activities
