The building for physiological laboratories for sports activities of the University of Milan Bicocca represents an element of enhancement of the "Pro-Patria" sporting establishment, both for the excellence activity it offers to the city, which for the role of reference visual able to express a new architectural image of the sports center.
The project articulates the distinct components of the functional program in reference to the surrounding context, hierarchizing the characters of the fronts for orientation, accessibility, and organicity of insertion in the general environment.
Horizontal lines articulate the building volumes, defining the organization of the accesses. The large entrance shelter characterizes the main front on Viale Fulvio Testi, extending to accommodate visitors coming from the parking lot to the north. The head south is instead screened by a pergola, which defines an open space towards the athletic field.
The color of the facades recalls the natural red brick tone that identifies the Bicocca University buildings.
The material, structural and plant choices are oriented towards the achievement of an energetically efficient building, with low construction and maintenance costs and a high degree of flexibility.
