Environmental recovery of a quarry

The project's theme is to detect the spatial relationships that this place establishes with the surroundings. There are two scales of reference and dimensional scope investigated: on the one hand the void of the quarry and the geography of the area and the regional surroundings as proximity appliances and on the other the large scale, astronomy and general systems that regulate the world as infinite appurtenances. The project foresees, to identify the true void of the quarry, a cone of land brought back to a height already high on the outer edge. Its geometric axis along the visual line connecting the two bell towers of Villa a Sesta and S.Giusmè and the summit of the altitude of 465 m s.l.m. it constitutes the first perceptive level with respect to the excavated wall of the hill and the measuring element of the depth of the quarry. A cycle path with an arched circle, on the inside wall of the quarry, following the altitude 465 s.l.m., runs at a distance from the top of the cone. A pedestrian only path perimeter of the whole area involved in the excavation and defines the scope of the project.
