The open view of the horizon, from a distance, is a structural and necessary condition when arriving in Venice both from the sea and from the mainland.
This approach to the lagoon settlement places the island of Tronchetto as the northern edge of the city at the end of the Grand Canal but also as the foreground to the view of those who cross the translagoon bridge.
The project, due to its strategic barycentric location and to its proximity to the water, has the potential to interact with the elements and the peculiar characters of this specific geography.
A system of horizontal planes are layered to form a stratification of lines that internalize the horizontality of the surrounding landscape, integrating and developing, significantly modifying, the artificial support of the soil that constitutes the island of Tronchetto.
The planes, like overlapping plates in a translating way, cut the structure of the external margins of the fronts of the building, blur the perception of the building in the environmental context.
Light, materials, reflections and horizontal planes intersect and blend with the lines of the lagoon landscape to return a quality of Venetian atmospheres and colors that will identify the character of the hospitality of this project.
