Biopiattaforma CAP
Sesto San Giovanni (MI), Italy
2017
International competition, First prize
Under construction
The aim of the project is the transformation of the CAP-CORE plant in Sesto San Giovanni in order to create a Bio-platform.
Through the valorisation of Forsu and sludge residues from water treatment, the Bio-platform will be the first plant in Italy with this technology.
The interventions ensure the functionality, development and technological upgrading of existing systems and the significant renovation of the external image of the plant.
The unification of the plant’s components in a single building defines an organic and complex shape based on the curved morphologies of the landscape and the vegetal structures of the area.
Horizontal lines and registers at fixed heights articulate the surfaces of the volumes in order to establish a relationship between the volumes of the plant and the natural orography of the area.
The surface between two registers is covered in vertical metallic panels with a chromatic alternation of green and reflecting aluminium
Thanks to the gradual reduction of the green bands, in favor of the aluminium panels, the higher surfaces gain atmospheric tones and tend to integrate with the sky.
The intervention is not only a significant technological improvement, a progress towards sustainability, but it is also the key to a general territorial regeneration of an area that is marginalized but part of the naturalistic corridor of Valle Media del Lambro.
