Hotel and Conference Center
Milan, Italy
2010-2014
competition by invitation - first prize
The proposal developed for the future Hotel and Conference Center is based on the archetypal value of the old seminary, with a double height four-sided portico around a central courtyard. Through the use of non-invasive technologies and solutions, the project preserves unchanged the perception of the unique quality of this historic site.
The new garden in the courtyard interprets the contemporaneousness of its rule: the greenery, structured in square tanks of different sizes, is envisioned as a carpet that highlights the geometric precision of the space and favors the sight of symmetries of the colonnade.
The portico and the loggia are preserved as open galleries for distribution to the hotel and conference center functions, while the lowered external green spaces and the broad garden mark a disjunction to the adjacent buildings and emphasize the unitariness of the Quadrilateral.
