Refurbishment of “Ticosa” area
Como, Italy
2006
Competition
The orographic condition and, more in general, the geographical area and the stratification of urban layouts and their major monumental presences represent important design materials from which the project for the transformation of the industrial area "Ex Ticosa" originates.
A long central square, the "esplanade", which winds along the north / south direction, following the route of the industrial settlements, functions as a nerve center from which the project as a whole generates, and from it the various traces, pathways branch off. and connections between the historic city on one side and the hillside on the other.
The intervention characterizes the esplanade with functions not only residential but also of commerce, tertiary and artistic activities and exhibitions, which extend even outdoors, in the three lowered squares that serve as a pedestrian link between the underground parking and on the surface and between the two sides of the traffic roundabout.
